Here we are again, ready to take on the challenge of the 84th session. We are back and are more confident than ever! I am so encouraged about this session because of all the new incoming freshman representatives and my fellow conservative colleagues, who have battled along side with me on the floor to fight for your rights.
While I represent District 93, it is you who have the voice. I want to make sure that all of you know what is going on here at the Capitol.
This session I have been able to file the following Bills:
HB236– Relating to the creation of the Fiscal Risk Management Commission
HB422– Relating to the enforcement of certain federal laws regulating firearms, firearm accessories, and firearm ammunition within the State of Texas.
HB459– Relating to zero-based budgeting for certain entities funded by this state and submission of a zero-based budget
HB815– Relating to the prosecution of the offense of online solicitation of a minor.
HB962– Relating to the regulation of the amount of installed electric generation capacity.
I would also like to announce that I have been appointed to serve on the Land and Resource Management Committee and Corrections Committee. I am very much looking forward to the important work that needs to be done in the area of Corrections. This is an area that the state owes a fiduciary duty not only to the taxpayers, but also those housed within the facilities. The Committee on Land and Resource Management has a critical responsibility of ensuring eminent domain powers will not be abused. I look forward to providing oversight on that matter and many others during the session.
