Dear friends, We are only 52 days into session and yet so much progress has been made for the citizens of Texas. Every day my colleagues and I are fighting hard to make sure that we keep Texans first. • Representative Matt Krause Files Suit Against Texas Racing Commissioners

    • Aug 29, 2014

Fort Worth—Representative Matt Krause today filed suit against the individual Commissioners of the Texas Racing Commission. In addition, Representative Krause filed an application for a temporary restraining order to prevent the Commissioners from adopting rules which would implement “historical racing machines” in Texas.   Krause filed the suit and restraining order in response to the Texas Racing Commission’s desire to usurp the constitutional power of the Texas Legislature. There has been repeated suggestion that the Commissioners would ignore the wishes of the public, the representatives they elect, and the rule of law by adopting rules making these machines legal. • We Need a Fiscal Risk Management Commission

    • Feb 27, 2013

Today, I filed H.B. 1930, which creates the Fiscal Risk Management Commission (FRMC). This commission would be comprised of elected officials and members of the public and be tasked with the assessment of, and planning for, a wide spectrum of potential economic threats to the state of Texas. With an unyielding $16 trillion debt, it is apparent that our federal government is fundamentally incapable of solving … Read more >>

  • The Religious Equal Access Act

    • Feb 21, 2013

Today I filed H.B. 1525, which prohibits the Board of Trustees of an independent school district from treating religious organizations differently than they treat non-religious organizations regarding access to school campuses during non-instructional time. The United States Supreme Court has made it clear that if a government-owned property is open to public expression and assembly, those citizens who would utilize the property may not be subject to viewpoint discrimination, specifically religious viewpoint discrimination. H.B. 1525 takes the findings of the Supreme Court in cases like Good News Club v. Milford Central School and Lamb’s Chapel v. Center Moriches Union Free … Read more >>

  • Representative Matt Krause Files “Come and Take it” Firearm Protection Bill

    • Feb 6, 2013

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Yesterday, State Representative Matt Krause (R-Fort Worth) filed H.B. 928, which deals with the enforcement of federal firearm regulations by Texas state and local law enforcement agents. H.B. 928 is different from any other bill protecting Texas gun owners that has been proposed in the State Legislature thus far this session, as it creates a legal framework for state-directed cooperation, or noncooperation, putting Texas in control of the issue. H.B. 928 prevents our state resources from being used for the purpose of enforcing federal regulations on firearms. Simply put, if passed: No state/local law enforcement agency/officer may … Read more >>
